Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej / Now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. The first person in history to score a 10 for a competition at the Olympics. Comaneci was first discovered by Bela Karolyi who was later her Romanian gymnastics coach at the time she was just six years old. She took part in the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She won in 1970. In her very first international competition in 1972, she took the top spot with three gold medals. Her debut as a senior in 1975, she beat Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva. The five-time European champ winning four golds and one argent. In 1976, she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and was the first female in history to dismount the parallel bars using backwards double salto.
